Copenhagen x Malmö x Queensbridge

Behind the alias Track 72 hides turntable wizard Tue Track, which in turn is the alias of Anders Brixen Kristiansen, member of legendary Danish hip hop group Malk de Koijn. Tue is as household a name in the frankly flourishing hip hop scene of Denmark you'll find.

His first solo album, Rockin' was a daunting but extremely gratifying mumbo-jumbo of electro and hip hop. That was released in 2005 and we've had to wait three years for a follow-up.

We're not getting another album (yet?), but an EP bearing the name It Crawled Outta My Hands, Honest! From this forecoming EP, two tracks have been made available for the listening pleasure of anyone on his myspace page.

On the only non-instrumental track, Get Up, Tue has allied himself with ADL from across the Øresund Strait and Queensbridge emcee Craig G, who was one of the members of the hip hop pioneering collective Juice Crew, which has resulted in a very boss tune.

Fool Ya is an instrumental apart from a single vocal sample that repeats "I'm not trying to fool ya" across a delicate yet quite emphatic beat from the hands of Tue.

A third track, Nightmare in Copenhagen can be found over at DR (the Danish national broadcasting service). Click the links on the left to stream the tracks individually.

Personally, I can't wait for this EP to drop, and when it does, be sure to pick it up. It's sure to be unfuckwithable. For now, all that's on display are these tracks. Be warned that they are far from brilliant quality, but very listenable nonetheless.

From Germany... Digitalism!

Those are the simple yet effective words which kick off Digitalism's performance at the Love Parade 2008 in lovely Dortmund, Germany. But effectiveness is the word as their performance didn't even last twenty minutes, which means the germans had no time to dawdle or muck about with anything less than their grade A stuff. Which is nice.

Remniscient of their July '07 Essential Mix for BBC's Radio 1, proceedings are initiated by the steady and forceful build-up by Mr. Cook's Right Here, Right Now that exquisitely mixes into Jence and Isi's own Idealistic. I haven't been able to identify the full tracklist as of yet, but I'm sure the mighty forces of the internet will timely crack the tracklist like it's 1939.

For now, try making do with this preliminary tracklisting, and of course the mix itself, which is available at the bottom:
  1. Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now (intro)
  2. Digitalism - Idealistic
  3. Digitalism - Home Zone (remix?)
  4. ...
  5. Digitalism - ZDRLT (Rewind)
  6. ...
I did hear some traces of Justice's DVNO in there somewhere, but more in the background than anything. But who knows? Knowing those zany germans, it could very well be the obscurest remix known to man. Regardless:

Hypercommunication

Quirky French quintet Poni Hoax is an unsurprising crush for me. Although quirky is usually good. Quirky and French is a combination usually predestined for a slight internal giggle, perhaps a smile and then straight on to something completely different. Whilst their newest single 'Hypercommunication' might fall in this first category, there's just something about it that makes it... well, not, to be completely frank.

Maybe it's the two remixes included, which, each in their own way, are both so outrageously good that it borders on the brink of insanity. Each of the remixes could easily warrant for a post here. Joakim supplies the aptly titled "Cartoon Muscles Edit" of the track, which adds such tenacity and torridity that it turns the already anthemic track into a full-blown firestarter.

Not ending there, German duo Alter Ego supplies an even hotter remix. Beforehand, a small indicator that this remix means business is that it's just over 10 minutes against the original track's length of just under 5 minutes, meaning it takes its damn good time to build up and unleash the best German-French joint effort since a certain someone remixed some other certain someones track into unmeasurable magnificence. Oh, and this.

Rapture at 7H46

Thinking of Danger after a title like that is just right, albeit only half-right, as Danger is only behind one of the two tracks featured in this post. The other track comes from the skilled hands of fellow Ekler'o'shocK signing datA.

Whilst the Danger track has appeared in the infamous Trashbags liveset leading up to 19H11, I'm pretty sure the datA track has never featured... anywhere, to be frank. No idea who has laid down the vocals for the datA track. If anyone out there knows, feel free to drop some knowledge on me in the comments.

Boys Noize - Oh! (Danger Remix)

It's confirmed, unreleased, sparkling hot and as Danger-esque as always, which means this is officially the greatest day of May 2008. After the remix was made known through it's appearance in live videos, there has been desperate cries for its release. Well, at least by me. I must've rewound that video about sixty times listening to it. As reported elsewhere, Unblogged has gotten their hands on the tune and released it to the blogging world. So thank you, Unblogged :-)

Boys Noize - Oh! (Danger Remix)

I officially also do no longer care for A-Trak's remix of the same track. This is simply, and I've been dying to say this for a long time: the bee's knees.

Get it while it's hot.

Breath of fresh air from Munich

It goes by the name of Moulinex and it is to be savoured and revered for its genius. He has taken Symbol One's "Love Juice" to unfathomable new heights. If the good mr. Rivoire is to surpass or even get up to par with it, he's going to have to pull out all the stops. But I wouldn't worry. He even fixed Tellier's Eurovision attempt "Divine".

Anyway, this is about mr. Moulinex, not mr. Danger, and on the subject of Moulinex it is really quite straight forward. Influences cited include Moroder, Bangalter, New Order, Kraftwerk etc. You know, the usual usual suspects.

Where it gets interesting, however, is when you get to his output, which is just astonishing. He has taken the new single from Kitsuné darlings Cazals, "Somebody, Somewhere" from a quite simple track into a heavy yet uplifting tune.

His remix of Symbol One's "Love Juice" has already received a heapload of praise and I would believe the incredible end result speaks for itself. Also, he has produced two original tracks, which also have a certain awesomeness to them, especially "Break Chops".
